# Depot mdmimports

Registers the import routes.

This page is generated from the Depot route table. Every operation carries the permission it needs and the anchor an agent can link to.

### POST `/api/v1/mdm/imports` {#depot.mdmimports.createMdmImport}

**createMdmImport uploads a Jamf, Intune or Kandji export as multipart form data (sourceKind, optional osFamily, then file) and parses it.**

Secrets in the export are never stored as setting values; they are listed for a vault credential instead.

#### Request body

Required, sent as `multipart/form-data`.

The body is `object`.

#### Responses

| Status | Body | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `201` | `application/json`, MdmImportView | Created. |
| `400` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | One or more validation errors occurred. |
| `401` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | No signed-in identity. |
| `403` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | The identity does not hold mdm:manage. |
| `413` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | Exports can be at most 20 MiB. |
| `500` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | No client store in request context. |
| `502` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | The export could not be stored. Nothing was imported. |
| `503` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | File storage is not configured on this Depot. |
| `507` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | This client's file storage is full. |

### POST `/api/v1/mdm/imports/{publicId}/apply` {#depot.mdmimports.applyMdmImport}

**applyMdmImport creates a draft profile from a parsed import.**

The profile has no assignments and is never active, so it reaches no device until a tech previews it and rolls it out. The uploaded file is deleted afterwards.

#### Parameters

| Name | In | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `publicId` | path | string | Yes | A uuid. |

#### Request body

Required, sent as `application/json`.

#### Responses

| Status | Body | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `200` | `application/json`, MdmImportView | Success. |
| `400` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | The request body is not valid JSON. |
| `401` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | No signed-in identity. |
| `403` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | The identity does not hold mdm:manage. |
| `404` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | No resource matches that id. |
| `409` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | This import already created a profile. |
| `422` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | Nothing in this export maps to an Outpost setting. |
| `500` | `application/problem+json`, ProblemDetails | No client store in request context. |
