# Send feedback to Outpost

You can tell the people who build Outpost what you think from any page in the
console. Feedback goes to Outpost, not to your own help desk. Outpost sees
which page you were on, and can write back. Replies arrive on your **My
feedback** page.

See [Contact support](/support/contact/).

## Before you begin

- You need `feedback:submit`. Every built-in role holds it.

## Send feedback

1. On the page you want to comment on, select the feedback button in the
header. Its tooltip reads **Tell Outpost what you think about this page**.
2. In **Tell Outpost**, under **What is this?**, choose **Comment**, **Feature
   request**, or **Bug report**.
3. Under **How are we doing? (optional)**, choose from 1 to 5 stars, or leave
   it blank.
4. In **What would you like to say?**, write your feedback, up to 10,000
characters. Say what you were trying to do, and what would have made it
   easier.
5. Select **Send**.

The dialog shows **Thanks, your feedback is on its way to Outpost**.

Feedback is sent with the page you were on, your name and email address, and
your Outpost version. If the Outpost service cannot be reached at that moment,
the feedback is queued and sent when it can.

## Read replies

When Outpost answers, the feedback button shows a count, and its tooltip says
**Outpost answered one of your notes. Open My feedback to read it.**

1. Select the feedback button, then select **My feedback** in the dialog.
2. Select an item to read the conversation and reply.

**My feedback** is your own list. Nobody else in your console sees it.

Each item shows where it stands:

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **Queued** | Waiting to be sent to Outpost. |
| **Queued, retrying** | A send failed and will be tried again. |
| **Failed to send** | Sending gave up. The reason is shown. |
| **Sent** | Outpost has it. |
| **Read by Outpost** | Someone at Outpost has read it. |
| **Being worked on** | Outpost is working on it. |
| **Declined** | Outpost will not act on it. |

When Outpost is working on an item, it can also show **Open**, **In progress**,
**Waiting on you**, **Resolved**, **Declined**, or **Same as another report**.
**Waiting on you** means Outpost asked you something. Reply on the item.

## Verify

Open **My feedback**. Your item is listed with the status **Queued** or
**Sent**.
