# Connect an AI app

An AI app, such as Claude, can use the portal for you: ask it to list unpaid
invoices, open a ticket, or check a device's warranty. It works as you, with
your permissions and nothing more, and it asks you before it decides anything
for your organization. This page shows how to connect one and how to stop it.

## Before you begin

- Your IT provider allows AI apps. If not, **Connected AI apps** says that no
AI apps can connect to the portal yet.
- You need the portal's address, which your IT provider gave you. The app
connects to that address followed by `/mcp`, for example
  `https://portal.example.com/portal/mcp`.

## Connect an app

1. In the AI app, add a connector or MCP server with the portal's MCP address.
2. The app opens your browser at the portal. Sign in if asked.
3. On **Connect an AI app**, check the name. **The app named itself**, so the
name is not verified. Connect only an app you started yourself.
4. Choose the **Organization** the app may use. It reaches only that one.
5. Select **Connect**, or **Do not connect**.

## What the app can and cannot do

- It can do only what you can do in that organization.
- It can never pay an invoice, save or remove a payment method, turn automatic
payments on or off, change your password or second sign-in step, start a
remote session, or download the activity log.
- Before it accepts a quote or milestone, answers an approval, sends a leaver
request, or changes people, roles, groups, or remote access, it sends you to
**Approve an AI action** in the portal. Check the details, then select
  **Approve** or **Decline**.
- Changes it makes are in the activity log, marked **via AI assistant** with
  the app's name.

## See and disconnect your apps

1. Open the account menu and select **Your account**.
2. **Connected AI apps** lists each app, the organization it reaches, when you
connected it, and when it was last used.
3. Select **Disconnect** to stop one at once.

Your apps are also disconnected when your password changes, your access is
paused or removed, or your account is locked.
