Plans and limits

Outpost has four plans. This page lists what each one includes, its limits, and its published prices, so you can choose a plan or check what happens when you outgrow one. It is the only page on this site that states prices. Every other page links here.

All prices are in US dollars, billed monthly, plus any applicable taxes. There are no annual contracts.

Enterprise and MSP include the first 100 active endpoints in the monthly platform fee. Each active endpoint after that is billed per month at a graduated rate. Graduated means each band’s rate applies only to the endpoints inside that band.

Active endpoints in the monthPrice per active endpoint per month
1 to 100Included
101 to 500$1.24
501 to 2,000$0.95
2,001 to 5,000$0.73
Over 5,000$0.56

For example, 600 active endpoints in a month bill as 100 included, 400 at $1.24, and 100 at $0.95.

On MSP, the 100 included endpoints and the 1 TB-month of Outpost Cloud Storage apply across your whole account. They are pooled across your clients, not given to each client separately.

Home Lab and Essentials do not bill per endpoint. They have a fixed limit instead.

An active endpoint is any unique endpoint that is online for four hours or more in the billing period. The four hours do not have to be continuous.

An endpoint that stays offline for the whole period, such as a spare laptop or a seasonal machine, is not billed. Endpoints that are enrolled but never come online in a period cost nothing for that period.

An unmanaged device is a device Outpost tracks without an agent, such as a switch, printer, camera, or access point found by network discovery. Devices that discovery finds but you do not choose to track are not counted.

  • Home Lab tracks up to 10 unmanaged devices.
  • Essentials includes 25, then bills $0.50 per device per month.
  • Enterprise and MSP bill $0.50 per device per month.

Like endpoints, an unmanaged device is billed for a month only when it is tracked and seen online for four hours or more in that billing period.

Outpost Cloud Storage holds endpoint backups, Outpost Sync files, ticket attachments, session recordings, and installers. It is measured in GB-months: the average of each day’s peak usage over the billing period, where 1 GB is 1 billion bytes. Usage beyond the included amount is billed at $0.03 per GB-month.

Every plan can use your own S3-compatible storage at no charge from Outpost. Home Lab uses your own storage only.

A console user is anyone on your team who can sign in to the console.

Pending invitations count toward the limit. Disabled users do not. There are no per-user fees on any plan.

Essentials, Enterprise, and MSP start with a 30-day free trial. You do not need a credit card to start one.

  • An Essentials trial allows up to 50 managed endpoints.
  • Enterprise and MSP trials allow up to 100 managed endpoints.
  • Trials do not allow overages on metered services, and nothing is charged during a trial.
  • One trial per organization, matched by its work email domain. On a personal email provider such as Gmail, one trial per verified email address and per verified mobile number.

See Free trials for what happens when a trial ends.

Home Lab has no trial because it is free.

Limits are enforced when you add something, not by removing what you have.

  • Endpoints. When you reach your plan’s endpoint limit, the console refuses new enrollment tokens and new enrollments with a message that names the limit and the next plan, such as Home Lab includes 15 endpoints. Upgrade to Essentials to add more. Endpoints already enrolled keep working.
  • Unmanaged devices. Home Lab stops tracking new unmanaged devices at 10.
  • Console users. Invitations beyond the limit are refused.
  • Storage. On Home Lab, anything that would store files is refused with Home Lab uses your own S3-compatible storage. Add your own S3-compatible storage to store files. until you add your own S3-compatible storage.
  • Features. A feature your plan does not include opens a Not included in your plan page that names the plan that includes it, with an Upgrade link when you can upgrade yourself. See Plan-locked features.
