Brand the client portal
Your clients see your brand in the portal, not Outpost’s. The branding you set applies to every client’s portal, the emails it sends, your invoices, and the public quote, project, and payment pages. A client can have an override, for example when you resell under a partner’s name. This page shows how to set it up.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- You need
clientportal:branding. - Have your logo as PNG or JPEG, at most 256 KB. SVG and WebP are not accepted. A second version for dark backgrounds is optional.
- For a favicon, have a square PNG, at most 64 KB.
Set your branding
Section titled “Set your branding”- Select Settings > Client portal. It opens on Branding.
- Under Name and contact, enter:
- Portal name: what clients see as the portal’s name, such as
Example IT. Empty uses your sales display name or your licensed name. - Support email, Support phone, and Support page (an
https://address). The portal shows them as help from you.
- Portal name: what clients see as the portal’s name, such as
- In Theme the portal opens in, choose Follow the device, Light, or Dark. People can still switch for themselves.
- In Powered by Outpost footer, choose Show it or Hide it.
- Under Logos and favicon, choose a file for Logo for light backgrounds, Logo for dark backgrounds, and Favicon. Each uploads when you choose it.
- Under Accent color, set the color. See Choose an accent color.
- Check the Preview, then select Save branding.
When you upload no light logo, the portal uses your console logo. The dark logo falls back to the light one.
Choose an accent color
Section titled “Choose an accent color”Any color works, including your brand’s. Set it in any of three ways, which stay in step:
- Picker, the color picker.
- Hex, such as
#1f6f4e. Empty uses the product default. - Red, Green, and Blue, from 0 to 255.
To start from your logo, select Suggest from logo. Outpost offers up to five colors from the light logo, best match first, ignoring transparent, near white, near black, and gray pixels. Pick one to use it. A logo in greyscale offers none.
How contrast is kept
Section titled “How contrast is kept”The portal keeps your hue and adjusts only the color’s lightness for each theme, so it stays readable on light and dark backgrounds:
| Check | Must reach |
|---|---|
| Accent text on the page | 4.5:1 |
| Borders and focus rings and icons | 3:1 |
| Button label on a button filled with the accent | 4.5:1 |
The Preview shows the portal in both themes with the colors it will really use, a Pass or Fail chip for each check, and Lightness adjusted for this theme so it stays readable. when it changed your color.
Where your branding appears
Section titled “Where your branding appears”- Every portal page, the browser tab’s icon, and the app people install on a phone.
- Every portal email and billing email, such as invitations, invoices, receipts, and autopay notices.
- Invoice, receipt, and report PDFs.
- The public quote, project, and pay pages.
Outpost’s name appears to clients only in the Powered by Outpost footer, and as Secured payment powered by Outpost at the foot of the no-login pay and autopay pages. Choosing Hide it removes both: the pay pages then say Secured payment.
Override branding for one client
Section titled “Override branding for one client”- Select Clients, then Record on the client’s row, then the Client portal tab.
- Select Branding.
- Under Branding for this client, choose Override for this client.
- Change what should differ. Anything left empty still comes from your default.
- Select Save branding.
To go back, choose Use MSP default and confirm. The override is deleted.
Verify
Section titled “Verify”Open the portal’s sign-in page in a private window. It shows your portal name, logo, and accent color.
